Interview of Candidates Wishing to Become Lawyers Ongoing

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend К.Zarbaliyeva / Farhad Najafov, the deputy chairman of the Bar Association stated on 27 June that the Azerbaijani Bar Association would continue interviewing candidates, who passed their exams to become lawyers.

Najafov noted that interviews were held with 170 candidates. Some 140 of the candidates demonstrated positive results and they were appointed to law defender posts.

Interviews 120 other candidates will be held by the middle of July. Candidates successful in the interview will be sworn in as members of the Bar Association.

According to deputy chairman, the new admission of documents for lawyer posts will be announced as soon as the competition is concluded.

Seven lawyers who successfully passed the exams after swearing at the Presidium of the Bar Association will take up duties in juridical consultations of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.

Some 299 candidates, gained 50% or over for the right to sit the next stage of exams.

The Commission is made up of 11 people; five lawyers, 3 scientists and 3 judges.

The Azerbaijani Bar Association has 540 members. According to number of law defenders, Azerbaijan is one of the last places in Europe.
