Minister:   Kazakhstan Intend to Adopt New Draft Law on ‘Education’

Kazakhstan, Astana / corr. Trend К.Arinova / Zhanseit Tuymebayev, the Education and Science Minister of Kazakhstan has informed journalists in Astana that the ministry will present a new draft law on 'Education'.

"We tell of this news for the first time. We hope that the new draft law will promote the increase of education in Kazakhstan," the minister said.

According to the minister, the new document envisages fundamental changes to the existing education system. There are plans to form a three-stage education system, which should integrate with the European education system. Besides, work of teachers will be intensified.

"We are planning to hold exams for not only school-leavers and students, but also for teachers. I insist on appointing superiors of provincial and regional educational departments not by akims (local heads), but by the ministry. I know a case where a regional Department of Popular Education was headed by a zoo technician," Tuymebayev stated.

The minister added that the construction of 20 of the100 planned new schools in the country has begun.

By the beginning of the new education year on the 1 September interactive training will be established in 1,000 schools of Kazakhstan. In 2008 upgrade of equipment for interactive training will be established in 6,000 schools of Kazakhstan.
