Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr Z. Safarov / The World Championship, which was hosted with excellence by Baku two years ago, guarantees that Euro-2007 to be held in Azerbaijan will also provide the highest standard for events, the Vice President of the Union of European Gymnastics (UEG), Jorj Gelzek, stated.
During a press conference Gelzek voiced his belief that the start will be an example of greatness, especially because the championship is important as a preparation to the mundial in Patry.
"Taking into consideration the great number of gymnasts in the championship, European participants make up 60% and the rest come from outside of Europe. So, Euro-2007 will not only be a show of the best gymnasts of the continent, but also of the world," Gelzek noted.
The chief coach of Azerbaijani national gymnastics team, Valentina Ukleina, backed him and noted that Azerbaijani gymnasts have improved their skills during the last years and now can compete for high places in the championship. Vice-President of National Federation Altay Hasanov, stressed that, participation in the Euro-2007 is already a great success.
