Azerbaijani Meteorologists to Participate in Working Meeting on Possibility of Introducing Digital Forecasting Models in Caucasus

Georgia, Tbilisi / Тrend corr N. Kirtshalia / Azerbaijani meteorologists will participate in a two-day meeting on 'Possibilities of Forecasting via Digital Models in Caucasus' to be held at the Tbilisi office of the World Bank on 10 July. According to the Georgian Environment and Natural Resources Protection Ministry, regional digital models of weather forecasting (LAM) were introduced in Transcaucasia for the first time.

The meeting will be attended by employees of the Monitoring and Forecasting Centre of the Georgian Environment Protection Ministry, representatives of Azerbaijani Armenian, and Russian hydro meteorological services, as well as experts from Germany and Holland.

The pilot project will be implemented in Georgia. LAM is the United States' model of short-term forecast, which was created for South Caucasus countries taking into consideration orthographic and climatic conditions of the region.

According to the experts, implementation of the project will dramatically improve the quality of forecasting and will bring in line with international standards. Introduction US standards will enable more precise weather forecasts for all Georgian cities and for almost all regional centres and villages, according to the Ministry.
