Chairman of Caucasus Muslims’   Clerical  Port Blames Media Articles for Religious Tensions

Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr K. Zarbaliyeva / A workshop was held at the Azerbaijan State Committee on Work with Religious Organizations. The Chairman of the Committee, Hidayat Orujev, noted the necessity in holding workshops not only in the Central Administration of the State Committee, but also in the regions and cities of the country, according to the data provided by the Committee on 12 July. The purpose of the workshops is to discuss the issues on ensuring religious freedom, regulating relations between the State and religion, and religious enlightening.

The Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims' Clerical Port, Sheik-ul-Islam, Hadji Allahshukur Pashzadeh, delivered a report on 'History of Sheik-ul-Islam Institution'. Speaking on the religious situation in Azerbaijan, Pashazadeh indicated a high level of tolerance in the relationships between the State and religious groups. "The world's community highly appreciates it and considers this to be a good example for other countries," he said. Sheik-ul-Islam noted an important role of cooperation between the Caucasus Muslim's Clerical Port and the State Committee in fulfilling state policy in the religious sphere. After changes in the administration of the committee, tensions between the two organizations were ironed out, and efficient joint arrangements began," Pashazadeh added.

Sheik-ul-Islam noted the inadmissibility of the media publishing articles which generate religious tensions.
