Appeal of Former Azerbaijani MP to be Considered on 24 July

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. К.Zarbaliyeva / Rasul Safarov, the judge, has stated that the preparatory hearing of the appeal by Huseyn Abdullayev, the former MP of the Milli Majlis (Azerbaijani Parliament), is scheduled for 24 July in which Safarov will be present.

Abdullayev who was charged with hooliganism against MP Fazil Agamali, was sentenced from 18 May, to two years imprisonment by the Sabail District Court of Baku.

The Azerbaijani Prosecutor General's Office filed a criminal case in contravention of Articles 132 (slaughter) and Article 221.2.2 (hooliganism) of the Criminal Code, while at the end of the investigation Article 132 was canceled. The MP was charged with contravening Article 221.2 (hooliganism) and Article 128 (willful infliction of damage to health).

The dispute between MPs Fazil Agamali and Huseyn Abdullayev took place during the meeting of the Milli Majlis (Azerbaijan Parliament) on 16 March. As a result of these actions, the Parliament, in compliance with the appeal by the Azerbaijani Prosecutor General's Office, cancelled Abdullayev's immunity and he was arrested.
