Tiger's golf ball is a hit with spectator

(dailymail.co.uk) - Golf star Tiger Woods presented a fan with a match ball and signed glove - after hitting her with a wayward shot. Jennifer Wilson, 63, needed two stitches in a head wound after the world number one's ball made a direct hit during the third round of the Open Championship at Carnoustie, Scotland.

The accident happened when the golf star sliced his second shot into the crowd at the event's sixth hole. The defending Open Champion's ball bounced back towards the fairway after hitting Mrs Wilson on the head.

Woods immediately apologised and gave the 63-year-old a ball and signed glove - before going on to make par. The injured spectator's husband, Cecil, said: "We were standing 30 yards short of the green and I said to Jennifer, 'Get your crash helmet on, Tiger's coming'.

"I could not believe it when Jennifer then got clunked, but he does go off line from time to time. She just sank to her knees and we laid her down flat.

"She was pretty quiet and several people helped to get pieces of paper and napkins to stem the bleeding.

"She's had two stitches and there was quite a lot of blood." Mrs Wilson had to lie down but was eager to get back to watch the golf.

Her husband said he offered a few words of advice afterwards. "When he left I shouted, 'Have a good next shot and get a birdie'. "My wife did him a favour, she headed it back in for him."
