Separation of Religion from Government in Countries Like Azerbaijan and Turkey Ensures Development of Society: Azerbaijan’s Islamic Searches

Azerbaijan, Baku /corr. Trend S.Ilhamgizi / It is inaccurate to consider the newly elected ruling Justice and Development Party of Turkey as an Islamic party, said the Director of the Geo-Culture Department of Caucasus Strategic Studies Institute, candidate of philosophy sciences, Islamic searcher, Elmir Guliyev.

According to him, the preference given by the party to the traditions of the worldwide statehood does not mean that the party does not have religious tendencies. "Most of population in Turkey and Azerbaijan are Muslims, but it does not mean that they are Islamists. In my opinion, the Justice and Development Party is not an Islamic party. It is also observed in the statement of the party's chairman, Erdogan, who is going to maintain the traditions of the worldwide statehood," Guliyev said.

Separation of religion from the Government in countries like Azerbaijan and Turkey ensures the development of the society. Islamic searcher said that the religion is a system of values and it would be inaccurate to use it politically. "I would not like the Islamic Party to come to power in Azerbaijan. Azerbaijani is a multi-nation country. To ensure stability, pluralism and democracy, it needs to only support the traditions of the worldwide statehood," Guliyev said.
