Joint Commission on Problems of Azerbaijani Migrants to Russia to Continue Functioning in September

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. S.Ilhamgizi / Ilgar Hajiyev, the Chairman of Russian Azerbaijanis Congress, stated on 31 July that the Joint Commission of Azerbaijani Diaspora Organizations, together with the Russian Federation, will continue functioning from September to offer assistance in the settlement of migration problems of Azerbaijanis residing in Russia.

Two Azerbaijani Diaspora organizations, together with Russia, are providing assistance to Azerbaijani migrants in Russia after the adoption of a new law on the legal status of migrants by the Russian Federation at the beginning of 2007. A trilateral agreement was signed between the Russian Azerbaijani Congress, Azerros, and the Interregional Consultative Council of Moscow in this direction.

Hajiyev noted that the trilateral agreement envisages providing jobs to Azerbaijani migrants, constructing buildings for migrants, and to hold meetings with Azerbaijani migrants in different companies and with entrepreneurs.

The Commission agreed to meet monthly to discuss the state of Azerbaijanis residing in Russia. According to Hajiyev, the Diaspora Commission will start in September.

The Commission will hold meetings with the Azerbaijani students and high school pupils studying in Russia. "We will hold meetings with Azerbaijani specialty students to find jobs for them. The Commission has also held entrance exams for the Russian Universities. As a result about 40 Azerbaijanis have entered the Universities of Russia. We will attend the meetings dedicated to the beginning of the new education year," Hajiyev added.
