Trial of Former Azerbaijani Economic Development Minister Continues with Testimonies

Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr E. Javadova / The trial of the former Azerbaijani Minister for Economic Development, Farhad Aliyev, his brother Rafik Aliyev, former president of Azpetrol group of companies, and seventeen other defendants was continued on 1 August at the Court on Grave Crimes presided over by Judge Tofik Pashayev.

The Chairman of the Board of the 'Mingachevir Tekhniki Rezin' OJSC (rubber producing plant), Akif Hasanov, testified at the trial. The Former employee of the Sabail District Office of the Economic Development Ministry, Rovshan Mammadov, was interrogated later. He touched upon the activities of the Prestige shop network located in 1, A. Aliyev street, 103 and 105, Neftchilar avenue. The ex-Minister did not agree with Mammadov's testimonies on work violations in the shops.

The nephew of Ismayil Masimov, F. Aliyev's former advisor, civil defendant Khayal Shamiyev spoke at the trial. He touched upon the privatization of the non-dwelling area in 17, Abbasali street. According to the indictment bill, the facility was illegally privatized in the name of Shamiyev by order of F. Aliyev and with the mediation of Masimov who is currently jailed.
