Azerbaijan, Baku /corr. Trend I.Alizade / Shaving bread of so-called vahabizm does not mean resolving the problem, said the Chairman of the Center for Protection of the Religious Freedoms (DEVAMM), law-observer Ilgar Ibrahimoglu, on 14 August in Baku, commenting on the information regarding compulsory shaving of bread of vahabists in the northern regions of Azerbaijan. According to him, this action of the law-enforcement bodies is illegal, violates the rights for religious freedoms and contradicts human rights.

Law-observer considers that law-enforcements bodies should follow the legislation of the country and resolutions of internationally approved documents in human rights to which Azerbaijan joined.

"Such illegal acts causes radicalism among certain group believers and create conditions for development such extremist and radical faith as vahabism," Ibrahimoglu said.

The invented religious current as vahabism have nothing in common with Islam.

Chairman of DEVAMM noted that prospects of development of vahabism in Azerbaijan have very dangerous shape. The only efficient method of struggling against vahabism is enlightenment and disclose of violators of the real essence of this current.

We should think of the reasons of strengthening this current in our country, law-observer considers. "Fragmentation of population and absence of conditions for stable spiritual development of community in Azerbaijan creates favourable conditions for spreading different currents," chairman of DEVAMM added.
