The number of foreigners who visited Turkey in June of 2017 increased by 43.01 percent compared to June of 2016, the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism told Trend.
According to the Ministry, 3.486 million foreigners visited Turkey in June of 2017, 41,991 of them transited through Turkey to other countries.
Furthermore, 12,249 million foreigners visited Turkey over the first six months of 2017, which, by 14.05 percent, is more compared with the same period of 2016.
"During the reported period, 141,891 out of 12.249 million foreigners who visited Turkey accounted for transit passengers, that is, 1.16 percent out of the total number of people who visited that country," the Ministry said.
Moreover, 4.389 million foreigners visited Istanbul over the first six months of 2017.
