Uzbekistan begins export of honey

This year, about 10 tons of honey was exported from Uzbekistan for the first time.

Sherali Suyarkulov, the chairman of the association "Uzbekiston asalarichilari" announced about this at a meeting on "Beekeeping in Uzbekistan: a New Direction, New Reforms" as part of the exhibition of honey products.

He noted that the demand for honey products is growing abroad.

"This year, for the first time, about 10 tons of honey were exported, which is expected to increase sharply in the coming years. So we must expand the production of high-quality honey," said Suyarkulov

Soft loans worth 36 billion soums have been allocated for the development of beekeeping in the country, said Klimuna Irisbekova, chairman of the board of Alokabank.

"These funds are mainly directed to increasing of hives, processing and packaging of products, introduction of advanced technologies in the field," she said.

Currently in Uzbekistan there are about 13,000 beekeeping farms. This year, Uzbek beekeepers produced 15,000 tons of honey and honey products.

By 2021 this figure is expected to exceed 23,000 tons. In this regard, necessary conditions are created, new technologies are attracted to the sphere, while scientific searches continue. In particular, the association "Uzbekiston Asalarichilari" implements measures on the systemic organization of technological processes for the production of honey products, strengthening the fodder base and rational use of natural resources.

Earlier, the Uzbek president adopted a resolution "On measures to further develop the beekeeping industry in the republic," which is an important factor in the development of the sphere at a new stage.
