The consortium of Turkish companies Cengiz-Kolin-Kalyon presented an additional route of the new toll road Tashkent-Samarkand, Trend reports referring the Uzbek media.

Director General of the Turkish Kalyon Serdar Over and the first deputy minister of transport Ilham Mahkamov announced this project during the negotiations in Tashkent.

The meeting focused on the implementation of Tashkent-Samarkand new toll highway pilot project on the principles of public-private partnership. The agreement to implement the project was reached during the visit of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Uzbekistan in the spring of 2018.

“An additional option was presented for passing the Tashkent-Samarkand route on the joint meeting. Moreover, the parties discussed details of the route, engineering, financial and economic aspects of the project, its marginal cost and possible sources of its financing," the Uzbek Ministry of Transport stated.

This project will allow unloading the traffic of existing highway Tashkent-Samarkand and to reduce the distance on the way to 2 hours. Construction work on the creation of a toll highway is tentatively scheduled for 2019-2020.
