Managing Director of International Monetary Fund to visit Kazakhstan

Christine Lagarde, the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), is to visit Kazakhstan on May 16 to participate in Astana Economic Forum and in the Regional Roundtable on the topic of “Economic policy measures for inclusive growth”, Trend reports referring to National Bank of Kazakhstan.

Askar Mamin, the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Erbolat Dossaev, the Governor of the National Bank of Kazakhstan, heads of central banks and ministers of finance of Mongolia, countries of Caucasus and Central Asia, and member parties of Eurasian Economic Union, the representatives of international finance organizations and of embassies accredited in the capital of Kazakhstan are to attend the Roundtable.

The participation of the countries that uptake the initiatives of the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation Program is also expected.

The event agenda includes discussions of current economic situation and adoption of the necessary measurements for sustainable and inclusive growth of the economies of the countries in the region.

The participants of the roundtable are to exchange opinions on the following issues: how to strengthen the finance sector and change the business models of banks to ensure the financial resource accessibility; how to improve the business climate to stimulate the activity of the private sector, to diverse the economy and to create job opportunities; and how to improve the management system and increase administrative effectiveness of government bodies.

As expected, following the meeting, the IMF Managing Director will conduct a briefing for representatives of Kazakh and foreign media.
