Trend:

The deadline for return of the currency earned by carpet exports will increase from seven to 12 months due to a request from the Central Bank of Iran, Trend reports citing ILNA..

"This measure has been taken in the response to a demand of the manufacturers,” Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade, Reza Rahmani said on the sidelines of the 28th International Carpet Exhibition.

Referring to the effect of the US sanctions on the carpet industry, the Minister noted that Iranian carpets have their own customers who are buying carpets in different ways. “We now have a new market opportunity in East Asia, but their preferences in terms of size, color and variety must be taken into account,” he added.

Rahmani went on to say that carpet exports could be expanded. “Some ambassadors attended the opening ceremony of the Carpet Exhibition, despite US sanctions, and expressed interest in our carpets," he stated.

The minister noted the issue of supply of raw materials as the most important problem for the carpet industry. “Part of this problem is domestic production, which will be addressed, but we also intend to solve the problem by importing raw materials,” said Rahmani.
