The coronavirus pandemic has sharply stimulated digitalization worldwide, President of Azerbaijan Internet Forum Osman Gunduz told Trend on July 14.
“Revival was observed in this sector during this period,” Gunduz added. “The volume of e-commerce also increased during the pandemic.”
“The process of online orders made by foreign citizens has recently improved,” president of Azerbaijan Internet Forum said. “Most people ordered the goods from foreign countries up till now, mainly, from Turkey. Millions of orders accounted for the volume of online purchases from Turkey served by about 50 logistic companies.”
“However, the level of domestic e-trade, digitalization of stores within the country and online purchases by citizens was not developed properly,” Gunduz said adding that the development of domestic online trade was observed during the pandemic.
New companies began to operate in the country offering online purchases and delivery services, he said.
“There is a positive dynamics in this sphere. I think that the development of this sector will continue in the future,” Gunduz added.
