Azerbaijan's trade turnover with five main trading partners amounted to $8.2 billion from January through August 2021, Trend reports citing a report from the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee.
Italy during the reporting period retained the status of Azerbaijan's biggest trade partner with a trade turnover of about $4.9 billion (with a specific weight of 37.77 percent).
Thus, Italy is followed by Turkey - over $1.7 billion (13.58 percent), Croatia - $547.8 million (4.24 percent), Russia - $545.05 million (4.21 percent) and India - $489.5 million (3.78 percent).

During the reporting period, Azerbaijan purchased most of its products worth $1.2 billion from Russia (the share in a total import volume is 16.81 percent). It is followed by Turkey - $1.1 billion (15.35 percent), China - $ 1.006 billion (13.69 percent), Germany - $433.5 million (5.9 percent) and the US - $299.5 million (4.07 percent).
Azerbaijan's foreign trade turnover exceeded $20.3 billion, which is by 18.3 percent or $3.7 billion more than in the same period of 2020.
Some $12.9 billion accounted for export in the structure of foreign trade turnover, which is by 30.9 percent or $3.05 billion more than from January through August 2020. The share of export in foreign trade turnover amounted to 63.77 percent.
Azerbaijan's import amounted to about $7.3 billion from January through August 2021, increasing by 9.8 percent, or $659 million compared to the same period of last year. The share of import in foreign trade turnover amounted to 36.23 percent.
The foreign trade balance, remaining positive, increased on an annualized basis by 42.8 percent, or $2.4 billion up to $5.6 billion.
