Azerbaijan’s 10M2021 increases exports to EU countries

Azerbaijan increased exports to the European Union (EU) countries in 10M2021 by 36.7 percent, or $3.56 billion compared to the same period last year - to about $9.71 billion, Trend reports with reference to State Statistics Committee.

According to the Committee, the EU accounted for 57.62 percent of Azerbaijan's total exports in the specified period.

At the same time, Azerbaijan's imports from the EU in value terms exceeded $1.76 billion, which is 18.96 percent of the total Azerbaijani imports.

Thus, the positive balance of foreign trade turnover between Azerbaijan and the EU in the specified period amounted to about $7.94 billion.

In particular, Italy took the leading position among the largest importing countries of Azerbaijani products to the EU. The value of exports to this country in 10M2021 exceeded $6.67 billion, which is 68.72 percent of Azerbaijan's total exports to the EU countries. It is followed by Croatia ($751.26 million), Spain ($558.637 million), Portugal ($534.24 million), Germany ($421.9 million), Greece ($214.6 million), Czech ($159.78 million).

It is noted that, in general, Azerbaijan's foreign trade turnover in 10M2021 exceeded $26.1 billion. Of this, exports accounted for about $16.849 billion (64.56 percent), imports - more than $9.333 billion (35.44 percent).

The balance of foreign trade turnover of Azerbaijan, while remaining positive, increased 2.2 times on an annualized basis - up to 7.515 billion manats ($4.4 billion). The foreign trade surplus in the same period in 2020 amounted to almost $3.467 billion.
