The number of employees in Azerbaijan as of November 1, 2021, increased by 16,800 people, or one percent compared to the same period last year, Trend reports citing a report from the State Statistics Committee.
According to the Committee, the total number of employees exceeded 1.702 million, of which 903,600 people worked in the public sector of the economy, and 798,500 - in the private sector.
It is noted that of the total number of employees, 19.4 percent were involved in education, 18.7 percent - in trade and repair of vehicles, 12.9 percent - in industry, 8.1 percent - in health care and social services to the population, 7, 5 percent - in construction.
Another 6.6 percent of employees were in the sphere of public administration, defense, and social security, 4.3 percent - in transport and warehousing, 3.5 percent - in professional and scientific and technical activities, 3.4 percent - in agriculture and forestry, as well as fishing, 1.8 percent was involved in finance and insurance, and 13.8 percent - in other areas of the economy.
According to preliminary data, as of November 1, 2021, the average monthly nominal wage of employees increased on an annualized basis by 18.8 manats ($11.06), or 2.6 percent - from 704.1 to 722.9 manats ($414.3-$425.36).
Following this indicator, growth was recorded in the mining industry, in the areas of financial, insurance, scientific and technical, professional activities, in the information and communications sector, as well as in the field of transport and warehousing.
