Azerbaijan's Unibank talks possible transformation into digital bank

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Dec. 11

By Sadraddin Aghjayev - Trend:

Azerbaijan’s Unibank doesn’t plan to completely transform into a digital bank, head of the bank’s digitalization department Sattar Kazimov told Trend.

According to Kazimov, currently, Unibank has three mobile applications: for corporate clients, Leobank, and UBank.

"Through the first application we serve individuals, small and medium-sized businesses). The second application Leobank is based on a completely different service model, through which we were able to find completely different clients - clients of the modern generation, and our third mobile application UBank is intended for the main clients of the bank,” he said.

“Our key task in the development of mobile banking is to maximize the digitalization of the bank's products. Unibank doesn’t plan a complete transition to a digital bank. We want to make our bank's services more accessible,” the department head noted. “Perhaps in the future, we’ll change the working model of the branches, but our goal is to expand the digital interaction of the bank with the client.”

“The base of Unibank’s active users is about 590,000 people, 300,000 online users, and 170,000 users of digital cards. Besides, the bank plans to expand its portfolio of instruments in applications with various insurance services, as well as expand online banking services,” added Kazimov.
