Azerbaijan's local payment system aims to have own bank cards, provide lending service

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Feb. 14

By Sadraddin Aghjayev - Trend:

The Azerbaijani E-PUL payment system plans to expand its services, adding issuing the E-PUL bank cards, as well as provide lending, Samir Nasibov, CEO of PaySis company (legal owner of the E-PUL payment system), told Trend.

According to Nasibov, in 2021, the number of E-PUL users grew by 27 percent.

Last year, the company completely updated its mobile application, thanks to which new services were developed.

"We plan to start issuing our own digital card, but due to the technical non-readiness of our partners, this project was postponed," Nasibov said.

He stressed that most of transactions within the company's services accounted for such cities as Baku, Sumgayit, Ganja and Lankaran.

"I can also proudly announce that thanks to our strategic partner, SOCAR Petroleum, which commissioned a new gas station on the Goris-Gafan road passing through the Gubadli district [liberated from Armenian occupation in the 2020 second Karabakh war], our users obtained the opportunity to pay for fuel through a QR code using our mobile application," added Nasibov.

The annual turnover of E-PUL in 2021 increased by 124 percent compared to 2020.
