The trade turnover between Azerbaijan with the CIS countries exceeded $609.04 million while the share of these countries in Azerbaijan’s total foreign trade turnover amounted to 42.36 percent in January 2022, Trend reports citing the bulletin of the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee.

Azerbaijan's trade turnover with the CIS countries increased by 87.2 percent in January 2022 or $283,683 year-on-year. The share of these countries in the total volume of import and export operations in Azerbaijan increased by 11.79 percent up to 42.36 percent.

Moreover, Azerbaijan's foreign trade turnover increased by 40.63 percent or $1.6 billion in January 2022 compared to January 2021 from $2.4 billion to $4.06 billion.

Some $3.09 billion accounted for export in the structure of foreign trade turnover, which is by $1.5 billion (90 percent) more than in January 2021. The share of export in foreign trade turnover amounted to 76 percent compared to 67.34 percent a year earlier.

Azerbaijan's imports increased by $187 million or by 19.2 percent in January 2022 from $787.5 million to $974.9 million year-on-year. The share of import in foreign trade turnover amounted to 24 percent compared to 32.66 percent a year earlier.

As a result, the balance of foreign trade turnover, which remained positive, increased year-on-year by more than $1.3 billion or by almost 1.5 times up to more than $2.1 billion in January 2022 compared to $836.5 million in January 2021.
