The retail trade turnover in Azerbaijan increased by three percent up to seven billion manat ($4 billion), including food, beverages and tobacco products - by 2.6 percent up to 3.9 billion manat ($2.3 billion), non-food products - by 3.5 percent up to 3.1 billion manat ($1.8 billion) from January through February 2022 compared to the same period of 2021, Trend reports with reference to the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee.

According to the State Statistics Committee, the population spent 49.4 percent of funds to purchase food products, six percent - drinks and tobacco products, 15.5 percent - textiles, clothing and footwear, 5.2 percent - gasoline and diesel fuel, 4.9 percent - electrical goods and furniture, 2.5 percent - pharmaceuticals and medicines, 1.2 percent - computers, 15.3 percent - telecommunications equipment and printing products, as well as other non-food products from January through February 2022.

The cost of goods sold by private enterprises increased by 3.2 percent from January through February 2022 compared to the period from January through February 2021 and amounted to 99.7 percent of the total retail turnover.

The retail trade turnover in real terms increased by 12.2 percent for enterprises, by 0.4 percent for individual businessmen and by 0.1 percent for markets and fairs from January through February 2022 compared to the same period of 2021.

The average monthly retail trade turnover per capita amounted to 346.2 manat ($203.6), including drinks and tobacco products - 191.9 manat ($112.9), non-food products - 154.3 manat ($90.8).
