BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 10. The retail trade turnover in Azerbaijan increased by 3.1 percent from January through May 2022 compared to the same period last year - up to 17.7 billion manat ($10.4 billion), including the turnover of food products, drinks and tobacco products - by 2.5 percent, up to 10.1 billion manat ($5.9 billion), non-food products - by 3.8 percent, up to 7.6 billion manat ($4.4 billion), Trend reports with reference to Azerbaijan’s State Statistics Committee.

According to the committee, population spent 52.1 percent of funds on purchase of food products, 5.1 percent on drinks and tobacco products, 13 percent on textiles, clothing and footwear, 5.8 percent on motor gasoline and diesel fuel, 4.6 percent - electrical goods and furniture, 2.5 percent - pharmaceuticals and medicines, 1.2 percent - computers, telecommunications equipment and printed matter, 15.7 percent - for the purchase of other non-food products.

Cost of goods sold by business entities in non-state sector increased by 3.1 percent during the reporting period compared from January through May 2021 and amounted to 99.7 percent of total retail trade turnover.

The retail trade turnover in real terms increased by 8.1 percent for enterprises, for markets and fairs - by 6.9 percent, and for individual entrepreneurs - decreased by 1.6 percent from January through May 2022 compared to the same period last year.

The average monthly turnover of retail trade in Azerbaijan per capita amounted to 352.6 manat ($207.4), including the turnover of food, beverages and tobacco products - 201.6 manat ($118.5), non-food products - 151 manat ($88.8).
