Labor migration from Turkiye to Azerbaijan significantly increases

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 16. The number of trips of Turkish citizens to Azerbaijan for the purpose of employment increased significantly from January through May 2022, the General Directorate of Turkish Employment Agency (ISKUR) told TurkicWorld, Trend reports.

According to statistics, the number of Turkish citizens who visited Azerbaijan through ISKUR increased by 16.7 times from January through May 2022 compared to the same period in 2021.

Ministry noted that 248 Turkish citizens visited Azerbaijan for the purpose of employment through ISKUR during this period.

Generally, 6,978 Turkish citizens went abroad through ISKUR during the reporting period, which is 45 percent more than from January through May 2021.

According to the ministry, 122,266 Turkish citizens were provided with jobs through ISKUR in May 2022, of which 63.8 percent were men, and 36.2 percent were women.

The number of unemployed in Turkiye amounted to 3.5 million people in May, which is 1.3 percent less than in May last year, the ministry said.
