BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 17. The volume of trade turnover of Azerbaijan with the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries exceeded $2.2 billion from January through May 2022, and its share in total Azerbaijani foreign trade turnover amounted to 34 percent, Trend reports with reference to the Bulletin of Azerbaijan’s State Customs Committee.

Azerbaijan's trade turnover with CIS countries increased by 28.6 percent from January through May 2022 or $496.8 million year-on-year. The share of these states in the total volume of import-export operations of Azerbaijan increased by 0.69 percent - up to 34 percent.

Azerbaijan's foreign trade turnover increased by 73.87 percent from January through May 2022 or $8.7 billion compared to the same period last year, from $11.8 billion to $20.5 billion.

Exports, in the structure of foreign trade turnover, accounted for $15.4 billion, which is $7.9 billion (107.57 percent) more than in the first five months of 2021. The share of exports in foreign trade turnover amounted to 75.01 percent against 62.83 percent a year earlier.

Azerbaijan's imports increased by $724.6 million or 16.91 percent in the reporting period, from $4.3 billion to $5.1 billion. The share of imports in foreign trade turnover amounted to 24.9 percent against 37.1 percent a year earlier.
