BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 21. German gas trader Uniper SE discusses potential projects in the renewable energy sector with the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), Vice President of Uniper Global Commodities SE Michael Hilmer told Trend.
“Both our companies have a clear target for energy transition, as well as clear plans and strategies. We are discussing to identify potential projects for the future,” he said.
According to Hilmer, Uniper’s long-term cooperation with SOCAR has been very fruitful so far.
“One part of our partnership includes the technical cooperation provided by Uniper, where we foster knowledge exchange between our specialists and working groups. The renewables sector is one of the main topics we are discussing,” he explained.
Vice President also noted the importance of the German-Azerbaijan Sustainability Forum.
“This forum is aimed at bringing Azerbaijani and German companies closer, especially in the field of the energy transition and renewables, as Germany has a lot of experience, while Azerbaijan has a lot of potential. We, at Uniper, are very positive about this cooperation and think that it will drive Azerbaijan’s renewable energy potential further,” he added.
