Azerbaijan increases agricultural output

BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 17. Azerbaijan’s agricultural output in current prices to 9.7 billion manat ($5.697 billion) from January through October 2022, up by 3.2 percent compared to the same period of 2021, Trend reports citing the State Statistical Committee of Azerbaijan.

According to the report, livestock production increased by 3.1 percent, up to 4.4 billion manat ($2.58 billion), while crop production value reached 5.3 billion manat ($3.1 billion), rising by 3.2 percent.

In the reporting period, 3.115 million tons of grains and legumes were harvested in Azerbaijan from an area of ​​977,500 hectares (99.2 percent of the total sown area). The average yield was 31.9 centners per hectare.

As of November 1, the country harvested 1.031 million tons of potatoes (growth of 2.36 percent), 1.729 million tons of vegetables (growth of 1.35 percent), 468,700 tons of melons (up by 1.91 percent), 1.059 million tons of fruits and berries (growth of 3.46 percent), 204,700 tons of grapes (an increase of 1.74 percent), and 954,200 tons of green tea (a decrease of 15.53 percent).

In the first ten months of 2022, Azerbaijan produced 470,800 tons of meat, 1.8 million tons of milk, and 1.658 billion chicken eggs. The production of meat rose by 2.9 percent, milk – by 1.56 percent, whereas chicken eggs – by 6.7 percent against the same period of 2021.

Moreover, 341.4 tons of silkworm cocoons were produced during the reporting period, which was 31.4 percent less than last year.
