BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 9. Kyrgyzstan has exported 100 yaks to Azerbaijan, the Kyrgyz Ministry of Agriculture said in a statement, Trend reports via the Kyrgyz media.
Previously, the Ministry of Agriculture of Kyrgyzstan said that during the working visit of the head of the Livestock Organization and Monitoring Division of the Ministry of Agriculture of Azerbaijan, Eldar Hasanov to Kyrgyzstan on June 16-19, 2022, issues of cooperation in the field of livestock were discussed.
Following the visit, the parties reached an agreement that in autumn 2022 an expert group would arrive in Kyrgyzstan to select 200 yaks for deliver to Azerbaijan.
"From September 23 through September 26, 2022, the leadership of the Saktan agricultural cooperative and the association of yak breeders of Kyrgyzstan visited Azerbaijan. During the visit, fieldwork was carried out in the Kalbajar and Lachin regions of Azerbaijan to study yaks housing conditions, as well as natural climate analysis," the ministry said.
According to the National Statistical Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic, as of January 1, 2022, the total number of yaks in the country is 53,900.
