World's largest Hyundai plant nearing launch in Kazakhstan

Work on the launch of the Phase 1 of world’s largest Hyundai vehicles manufacturing plant is nearing conclusion in Kazakhstan, a representative of Almaty Industrial Zone told Trend.

The groundbreaking ceremony of the plant’s construction took place on April 21, 2019. As noted during the ceremony Hyundai cars are very popular in Kazakhstan and their market share is 17 percent, which makes it second most popular cars brand in Kazakhstan.

Thus, representative said, currently the Phase 1 of the future plant is being launched, which will allow to manufacture 30,000 cars a year. In turn, Phase 2 launch will expand plant’s capacity to 45,000 cars a year. The first car is to be manufactured in 2020.

A representative also noted that the total value of investments into plant’s construction is $65 million.

The future plant will include welding, painting and assembling workshops, workshop for manufacturing of plastic panels and the quality control section.

The venture, which will manufacture all types of Hyundai cars, will be equipped with latest equipment of South Korean and Japanese manufacturing.
