BAKU, Azerbaijan, Sept.9

By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:

The Chinese Sinohydro company will soon begin work on the reconstruction of 42 sections of the Khulo-Zarzma section of Batumi (Angisa) – Akhaltsikhe secondary road in Georgia, Trend reports via Georgian media.

The agreement between the company and the Georgian Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure was reached after Sinohydro won an international tender announced by the ministry.

According to Sinohydro, the road will be reconstructed using the latest technologies. Also, the work will not be delayed due to the global pandemic, since Sinohydro has a technical and personnel base in Georgia. Consequently, the company will not need to mobilize technical or human resources from abroad.

The company says that they understand the importance of this project and are happy to continue cooperation with Georgia in this direction.

The renewed Khulo-Zarzma road is a strategically important section that will connect the Samtskhe-Javakheti and Adjara regions. When the route is updated, the travel time from Batumi to Akhaltsikhe will be reduced by 1.5 hours. The project is funded by the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) in the amount of 95 million lari ($30.9 million).

POWERCHINA and its subsidiary Sinohydro are one of the largest construction companies in China with extensive experience in infrastructure projects. Since 2009, with funding from international donors, Sinohydro has implemented several important projects in Georgia.
