By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:

On the Georgian section of the new Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) railway line, 5 new bridges have been built and 17 bridges have been restored, Trend reports via the Georgian administration of Baku-Tbilisi-Kars.

According to the administration, there are 22 bridges on this section. One of them is a double-track bridge over the Kirkhbulakh River, 154 meters long.

Meanwhile, the Akhalkalaki International Railway Station is being improved here. The station has special equipment for the transportation of freight cars from a 1,520 mm rail to a 1,435 mm European standard rail. The territory of the city's international railway station is 102 hectares, on which, among other things, the buildings for the station personnel are located.

Work on the Georgian section of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway in the alpine zone was active throughout the summer. A large-tonnage transshipment point has been created at this site.

The BTK railway has been built on the basis of the Azerbaijani-Georgian-Turkish intergovernmental agreement. It can greatly reduce the time of delivery of goods from China to Europe via Azerbaijan, which makes this route especially attractive.
