Plants under construction in Iran’s Persian Gulf Special Economic Zone

The plants are being built in the Persian Gulf Mining and Metal Industries Special Economic Zone in the Hormozgan Province (southern Iran) with an investment of $1.03 billion, Executive Director of the zone Hassan Xalaj Tehrani said, Trend reports citing the zone’s official website.

Tehrani noted that the second plant of Iran's Maad Koush Iron Ore Pelletizing Company is under construction. The plant can produce 2.5 million tons of iron ore pellets a year.

Tehrani added that the second plant of the South Kaveh Steel Company is also under construction. The plant can produce 1.2 million tons of steel ingots a year.

Tehrani emphasized that a total of $560 million has been invested to the construction of two plants.

“In addition, a plant of Mobasher Noor Darya Company is being built in the zone. The plant will produce 1.5 million tons of steel ingots a year. About $360 million has been invested in the construction of the plant,” he said.

According to the director, a unit of the Taskhir Oil Refining Company’s refinery, which will produce oil solvents, is under construction. This unit will be able to produce 36,000 tons of products a year. More than $3 million has been invested in the construction of the unit.

Tehrani said that the plants of several other companies are also under construction.
