Turkmenistan, Japan discuss prospects for co-op in construction sector

Turkmenistan and Japan discussed prospects for cooperation in the construction sector, Trend reports with reference to Turkmenistan’s State News Agency.

The discussions were held during a meeting between Minister of Industry and Construction Production of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Turkmenistan Takahiko Katsumata.

The parties noted the promotion of new joint projects. Among the key areas of the partnership were gas and petrochemicals, transport and communication, agriculture, chemical industry, the introduction of advanced technologies, etc.

The sides stressed the contribution of Japanese companies to the development of key sectors of the economy of Turkmenistan and the implementation of projects to create innovative enterprises.

Turkmenistan and Japan successfully cooperate within the framework of international organizations, in particular within the UN. In recent years, cooperation in the political, trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian fields has increased.

A number of major projects have been implemented with the participation of Japanese companies. Among them - ammonia and urea plant in Turkmenistan's city of Mary, a urea plant and polymer complex in the Balkan region, an enterprise for the production of gasoline from natural gas in the Akhal region.

Japan has also shown interest in participating in projects to develop the industrial infrastructure of the Galkynysh gas field.
