Crashed Baku Vessel in Caspian Does not Belong to   Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend V.Sharifov / A vessel Baku, which crashed in the Kazakh section of the Caspian Sea does not belong to Azerbaijan. The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) said that SOCAR owns a geophysical vessel Baku, but it is currently in the bay of Baku and has not been leased to foreign companies.

According to the Emergency Ministry of Kazakhstan, the vessel Baku belongs to Italian company Agip, which is involved in the oil field development in the Kazakh shelf of the Caspian Sea.

The State Marine Administration of Azerbaijan said on 20 September that they have two registered vessels Baku (dry cargo and geophysical), which are currently in the Azerbaijani waters of the Caspian

According to the Kazakhstan's Ministry of Emergencies, 4 members of the crew were on board. A rescue search which began on 19 September and involved three vessels and two helicopters is still unsuccessful.
