Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend I. Khalilova / Samir Dadashev, the head of the State Anti- Monopoly Service at the Azerbaijani Ministry of Economic Development, was elected the Deputy Chairman of the International Council of CIS Anti-Monopoly Policy by the decision of the twenty-sixth meeting held in Baku, Igor Artemov, the Chairman of the Council, said afterwards.
Along with members of the Council ICUP, representatives from Turkey, Romania, and the United States were also in attendance.
According to Dadashev, at the beginning of its functioning, the Council was committed only to the exchange of information.
"The organization expanded its activities during the last year. The Council analyzes commodity markets and holds joint investigation into violations of anti-monopoly legislation," he said.
Success in these issues cannot be achieved without joint cooperation. Presently the International Council is holding an investigation in the markets of air transportation, telecommunications, cement, and grains (at Azerbaijan's proposal, analysis of this last market was included in the list).
The meeting is finishing its work on 21 September. The meeting focused on the work experience of the national anti-monopoly body of Azerbaijan in prevention of monopolistic activities and unfair competition, establishment of competitive environment, the cement market, uncovering cartels, and the application of softening programs at insurance and financial markets.
