Azerbaijan Monitors Goods Made in China
Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr U. Ismayilova / The State Service of Control over the Consumer Market at the Azerbaijan Economic Development Ministry commenced monitoring the market of cloths made in China. Many shops in Baku sell Chinese cloths under world-known brands, the head of the State Service, Khalig Mammadov, said on 4 October.
The purpose of the monitoring is to inform consumers of real origin of the goods. Chinese goods make up a surprising 90% of Azerbaijan's consumer market.
"The aim of the State Service is not to fully remove Chinese products from the market, but to properly present them to consumers in order to prevent them from paying more [only for a brand]," he said.
According to him, enlightening work should be carried among Azerbaijani consumers. The State Service intends to hold actions during the week-ends dedicated to raising knowledge of consumers in this matter.
