Azerbaijan Intend to Reinforce Development of Service Sector to Entice Foreign Investors

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. I.Khalilova / Deceleration of reforms on the creation of favourable conditions to hold business unlike other oil producing countries including Kazakhstan and Russia is not expected in Azerbaijan, Simeon Jankov, the author of the report Doing Business-2008 said at the presentation of the fifth report by the World Bank and International Finance Corporation.

According to the latest report by the World Bank and IFC Doing Business-2008 Azerbaijan's rating has increased.

"The progress recently observed in Azerbaijan in reforms positively affects the development of efforts. The Azerbaijani Government tries to create business conditions for development of oil sector", Jankov said.

Heydar Babayev, the Azerbaijani Minister for Economic Development, said the issue of creating conditions for enticing foreign investors in the service sector has been discussed at a governmental level.

"Today we should restrict ourselves to producing 1.2bln ton of oil and make Azerbaijan interesting for other countries in other directions too," Babayev said.
