Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend I.Khalilova / Over 2008 Azerbaijan should carry out reforms in border trade, which is considered unprofitable because of administrative and other expenses, Simeon Jankov author of Doing Business report, said in Baku on 8 October.

"This tendency peculiar to all countries of the region. Unfortunately, there is no progress in the region because of difficulty of such reforms. To increase export opportunities of the country, it is necessary to pay attention to removal of unpredicted expenses at customs places," Jankov said.

Heydar Babayev, the Azerbaijani Minister for Economic Development, connects the problems in foreign trade operations with objective and subjective reasons. "Measures will be undertaken in this direction and we will try to improve the country's position in the next report. Besides, this is the first year of cooperation with the World Bank and the International Finance Corporation and the 12th place for reforms is a good index," Babayev said.

According to Babayev, work is carried out to improve the Tax Code. Within the process of entrance to the World Trade Organization (WTO) appropriate decisions will be taken on customs rates in the nearest years.
