Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. S.Babayeva / The price of poultry will increase and some poultry farms may have to be close in the case of VAT not being cancelled on the import of fodder for poultry, Aydin Valiyev, the head of the Republic Poultry Association, said.

Azerbaijan purchases 80% to 90% of fodder mainly from abroad from Russia, Turkey and Iran.

"At present, poultry farmers with huge stores of fodder can function. In the case of the fodder running out the farm will not be able to buy more," Valiyev said. Such cases will cause an increase in the price and deficit of poultry in the country. Azerbaijan will import poultry from abroad. Today the price for 1kg of poultry is AZN 2.7, 1 egg AZN 0.09. The price for 1kg of poultry is AZN 3.2, egg -AZN 0.13 in Baku.

The Republican Poultry Association unites 29 enterprises, Mardakan Broyler, Siyazan Broyler, Devechi Broyler, Zira Broyler, Arco Co, Imishli Broyler and Shamkir Broyler.

The cancellation of VAT on fodder for poultry farms may cause an increase of volume in farms, Rafik Majidov, the head of the Economic and Finance Department at the Agriculture Ministry of Azerbaijan, said.

"We officially support the decision and consider the right to cancel VAT," Majidov said.
