Toyota Shows Corolla S3 at SEMA

( Worldcarfans ) - Normally, new car model premiers are reserved for major international auto shows, but Toyota took a different approach by debuting the ever-important all-new 2009 Corolla for the North American market at the Specialty Equipment Market Association convention in Las Vegas yesterday. It's not really clear why Toyota would time its release at a tuning convention instead of the Los Angeles Auto show which takes place in two weeks, however, Toyota didn't come empty handed to the customization event.

Toyota simultaneously presenting a tuned version known as the Corolla S3. Visually, the Corolla is outfitted with a dramatic body kit, triple razor-blade-like front grille, smoothed over rear bumper fascia, deck lid with integrated spoiler, dual-tip exhaust and massive 20-inch two-piece billet aluminum wheels. Underneath, a supercharger and front mounted intercooler is bolted to the 2.4-liter engine plus brake upgrade kit as well as interior customizations. Toyota hasn't issued any official statement on the car, but we will update this space as soon as further details are provided.

The all-new Corolla makes its market launch in February 2008 and will be available in five trim level - Standard, LE, XLE, the sporty S, and the performance-driven XRS with two engines - 132hp 1.8-liter 16V and 158hp 2.4-liter 16V.
