Russia Suspended Grain Expert to Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. I.Khalilova / Russia suspended grain import to Azerbaijan due to increase of grain demand in the country, Heydar Babayev, the Minister of Economic Development of Azerbaijan, said. Moreover, the Russian Federation is planning to impose duty on grain export in amount of €22.

"After imposing customs duty on grain import Russia to restore import to Azerbaijan," the Minister said.

Azerbaijan signed the contract with Kazakhstan and Russia on grain import on $315 per ton of grain, Babayev said.

The interruption of grain import from Russia cannot negatively affect on Azerbaijani grain production as the country imported grain from other countries.

The Azerbaijani Agricultural Ministry reported the grain reserve in Azerbaijan is expected to reach 680,000 tons.

Today 1.9mln tons of grain has been produced in Azerbaijan some 1.5mln fell on wheat. Yearly some 127,000 tons of wheat are used in the country, Sabir Valiyev, the deputy department at the Agricultural Ministry, said.

The Azerbaijani Government made decision to cancel GDP on import due to rise in price of grain in Kazakhstan and Russia.
