Tension in Tbilisi Will Not Affect Azerbaijani Economic Projects

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend S.Aliyev / The current tension in the public and political situation in Georgia will not affect the significant Azerbaijani economic projects related to the country.

ВР Azerbaijan told Trend Agency on 9 November that the Azerbaijani oil and gas pumping carried out via the Baku -Tbilisi -Ceyhan export oil pipeline (BTC) and the South Caucasus gas pipeline (SCP), will continue in accordance with previous schedule.

Azerbaijan delivers its light oil produced from the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli fields through the BTC pipeline to the Mediterranean Sea, across the territory of Georgia and Turkey. The discharge capacity of the pipeline is 50mln tons a year. Gas is transported via the SCP (including the supplies to Georgia). Georgia receives approximately 1mln cubic meters of gas per day.

The Azerbaijani State Railway said that trains functioning en route to Georgia are on schedule. "Trains arrive at the time established and leave in accordance with the timetable," the Department said. Every day approximately 10 trains function from Azerbaijan to Georgia, with one of them being a passenger train.

Baku-Tbilisi air flights are also being carried out without any delay. "The flights are carried out in line with schedule," AZAL state air company of Azerbaijan said.
