Polish Ambassador Calls Azerbaijan a Friendly Country Open for Cooperation

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr S. Babayeva, S. Agayeva / The Second Polish National Exhibition in Baku began on 7 November. The event will run until 8 November and involves 40 leading Polish companies, with over 75% of them taking part for the first time.

"Today we are in a friendly country which is always open for cooperation with Poland," said Polish Ambassador to Azerbaijan Krzysztof Krajewski at the opening ceremony.

The companies participating in the exhibition are those engaged in construction, industry, metallurgy, energy, furniture production, pharmaceutics, chemistry and other fields.

"Both countries have greatly contributed to the strengthening and development of cooperation in a variety of fields, particularly in economics", said the acting Economic Development Minister of Poland Peter Vozniak at the opening ceremony.

" Azerbaijan and Poland have much to share and offer each other," according to the Azerbaijani Deputy Economic Development Minister, Mikayil Jabbarov.

A second meeting of the inter-governmental commission on economic cooperation will take place during the exhibition in Baku. Its co-chairs, Azerbaijani Economic Development Minister Heydar Babayev and Polish Economic Development Minister Peter Vozniak, will be in attendance. A final agreement is expected to be signed at the meeting.

According to the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee, cargo turnover between Azerbaijan and Poland from January to August made up $17.22mln ($16.15mln of import and $1.07mln of export).
