Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. U.Ismaylova / The changes in foodstuff prices in Azerbaijan would continue by the end of 200. The prices would rise by 30% at the beginning of 2008, Eyyub Huseynov, the Free Consumers Union's head, said on 8 November.

"Regulation of prices can be observed after Azerbaijan's joins the World Trade Organization 9WTO). The prices would increase in compliance with the policy of the organization, but remain stable," Huseynov said.

The main reasons of permanent rise in prices are the absence of consumer policy in the country and the decision by the Tariff Council in January to increase prices of communal services and electric energy.

The price for one litre of milk was increased from AZN 0.30 to 0.40.
