Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend I.Khalilova / The Azerbaijani Government should reconsider a list of goods released from the customs duties and import taxes, because special weight of these operations in the total import operations is 60%, Ziyad Samadzade, the chairman of the permanent parliamentary commission on economic policy, said during the discussions over the draft 2008 public budget on 13 November.

The current situation does not meet the market conditions and negatively impacts remittances to the public budget through the state customs committee. The special weight of remittances in the total amount of customs duties and taxes was projected in the amount of 15% in the 2008 public budget.

The necessity for considering the list is also linked with the increase of the number of foreign trade partners and now Azerbaijan is implementing import and export operation with 134 countries.

In 2008 the foreign trade turnover of Azerbaijan is forecasted to comprise $31.2bln. Export operations will be implemented in the amount of $24.9bln and import $6.3bln, Heydar Babayev, the Azerbaijani Minister for Economic Development, said.
