Azerbaijani Government Plan to Agree Anti Inflation Measures with International Organizations

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. I.Khalilova / The Azerbaijani Government is planning to reinforce anti inflation measures in 2008, although there are not serious growth rate of inflation, Heydar Babayev, the Minister of Economic Development, said on 14 November.

Taking into consideration the increase in price of imported commodities the inflation for 2008 is forecasted on 12%.

"Taking into consideration the increase of consumer prices in world we should undertake more efficient measures. We should reinforce control over use of investment program and to expand issue of securities within the framework of monetary policy. Moreover, it is planning to strengthen the work directed to against monopoly, which affects on consumer market within the framework of an administrative measures," the Azerbaijani Minister said.

"Administrative measures are permanently undertaken, however, such measures should turn the main tool against increase of inflation," Babayev said.

The Anti inflation measures will be agreed by Finance, Economic Development Ministries, National Bank, as well as international organizations. According to the International Finance Organization's estimations the price for imported oil products increased by 24%.
