Azerbaijan Chouses Consultant to Develop Strategy for Solid Wastes in Baku

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. I.Khalilova / The Azerbaijani Ministry of Economic Development signs contacts with foreign consultant. The consultant will develop tender procedure to chouse contractor for construction and management of the first garbage processing plant in Azerbaijan, Mikail Jabbarov, the deputy Minister of Economic Development, said.

The Ministry made choice between two companies, the Finish Poyri and British Curry& Brown companies. Poyri has already held preliminary estimation of proposals by three companies the Japanese EBARA, Austrian EVN and French CNIM for the Ministry.

"The consultant will submit the documents to applicants for construction of the plant within three weeks. The applicants will be given 30 or 45 days to submit documents approving participation in the tender," Jabbarov said.

The main issues are to construct the plant with 500,000 tons of capacity, which meets modern technologies for trash burning and electric energy produce. The construction of the plant is planning to launch at the second quarter of 2008.

The project will be financed at the expense of the State.
