Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr S. Aliyev / The Azerbaijan State Caspian Sea Shipping Company will receive a new ferryboat at the end of December or at the beginning of January to transport carriages via the Caspian Sea, the head of the Company Aydin Bashirov said on 16 November. The Company intends to purchase a total of 4 ferries.

The new ferry can take aboard 52 carriages. Company's available ferries can take only 28 carriages, which dissatisfies consignors of goods in the eastern shore of the Caspian Sea. They say it is economically inexpedient to divide a train into parts in order to transport it.

Azerbaijan is currently negotiating with Croatian shipbuilding enterprises for construction of new ferries for the Caspian Sea Shipping Company.

"Croatian shipyard offered to construct one ferry in 2010 and three in 2011. One ferryboat coast €29mln, and the price does not suit us," Bashirov said.
